Madame Sultana Gallion enjoys an extraordinarily close relationship with her horses. Sitting at her stud, nestled at the foot of the Morne mountain, this rider explores silent dialogues, always ready to listen attentively to what her equines have to say. She recognizes the therapeutic capacities of these animals when she is in their company.
In addition to offering sessions focusing on the sensory approach and bonding with her horses, which bring her great joy, she is inviting the public to an open day at the Haras du Morne for the very first time.
The event will give local residents, young and old, the opportunity to discover the many benefits of the racehorses she saved from euthanasia, while sharing a convivial moment of leisure riding.
Visitors enjoyed entertainment, fashion shows and free introductions to horse and pony riding, specially adapted for the youngest riders.
Véronique Fanchette, daughter of the poet Jean Fanchette, also had the opportunity to present an extract from her work entitled "Équinoxes Poésie," a show combining poetry, equestrian art, song and piano in tribute to her father's work.In addition to the equestrian show, many people, young and old, enthusiastically attended the acrobatic demonstrations. This day dedicated to the pleasures of leisure riding provided an opportunity for people of all ages to stroll around this private estate, located at the heart of the personal residence of Sultana Gallion, who divides her time between two countries, France and Mauritius.
The Haras du Morne was born from the choice of one person, Madame Sultana GALLION. It very quickly became a mission, to save the horses and make them available to Mauritians who, until then, had very few opportunities for horse-riding. In the end, it became the meaning of life for Madame Sultana GALLION and the people around her. This open house on April 23, 2023 was and will remain a unique day in the lives of the people of Mauritius.
